I had not done many still lifes in my past, for I always thought them kind of stolid and uninteresting. My house and garden are laden with flowers and bouquets, so I thought why not paint them and see if indeed they are "uninteresting" to create. With the addition of complementary folk pieces, fabrics and backgrounds, I found them to be another way to look at composition, color and design. I will do more.
